Poster prize awarded to Jacqueline Ameri

prize

Assistant Professor Jacqueline Ameri, (Semb Group) was awarded the poster prize for her poster presenting her work regarding Safe and Scalable Cell Therapy for Type 1 Diabetes by Simplifying Beta Cell Differentiation.

The Joint EU Stem Cell Consortia Meeting, Stem Cell Research in Europe: Status and Prospects, took place at the Nemo Science Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, May 8-9, 2017.

Leading stem cell scientists from all over Europe participated in this meeting, as well as a representative from the EU commission office located in Brussels, to discuss current and future stem cell collaboration projects.

Jackie's project identifies a unique cell surface protein present on human pancreatic precursor cells providing for the first time a molecular handle to purify the cells whose fate is to become cells of the pancreas – including insulin producing cells. The work, outlined in a landmark study entitled ‘Efficient generation of glucose-responsive beta cells from isolated GP2+ human pancreatic progenitors’ has just been published in Cell Reports and is available here.
