Title: Developmental regulation through RNA binding: TRIM-NHL proteins control cell fate decisions.

15 August 2016, 12:00-13:00
CPR Seminar room Panum Building 6, 2nd floor

Inga Lödige is working on TRIM-NHL proteins, a conserved family of proteins that control stem cell maintenance and differentiation. She has completed a posdoc with Gunter Meister at the University of Regensburg and recently moved to the Hennig lab at the EMBL. Using a combination of genome-wide, biochemical and structural approaches Inga has shown that the NHL domain, the signature domain of TRIM-NHL proteins, is a sequence-specific RNA binding domain. Through this domain, TRIM-NHL proteins recognize mRNAs to regulate gene expression. Come to Inga's talk to learn more about this intriguing protein family and their mode of action.
