We are seeking a Laboratory Technician (parental leave cover)
The successful candidate will be responsible for the purchase consumables and control stock for the group. Genotyping of mice by DNA purification and PCR, as well as other relevant duties as may reasonably be associated with the position and which may be required.
Laboratory Technician (parental leave cover) for the Danish Stem Cell Center
The Danish Stem Cell Center (DanStem) at Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is looking for Laboratory Technician to join the Semb group to cover a parental leave. The employment is limited to 1 year and scheduled to start April 1st 2016 or as soon as possible upon agreement with the chosen candidate. The working hours are 20 hours per week during normal working hours on week days. There is some flexibility with regard to distribution of hours, but the candidate will have to be at work at least 3 days each week.
DanStem comprises of two sections: The Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem Cell Biology, where we address basic research questions in stem cell and developmental biology (BasicStem). The second Section for Strategic Translational Stem Cell Research and Therapy (TransStem) is focused on the translation of promising basic research results into new strategies and targets for the development of new therapies for cancer and diabetes. The successful candidate will be part of Professor Semb’s research group and the responsibilities will consist of:
Purchase consumables and control stock for the group
Genotyping of mice by DNA purification and PCR
Carry out other relevant duties as may reasonably be associated with the position and which may be required from time to time
You have an interest in participating in high quality scientific research and have recently completed a laboratory technician degree. Work experience from high quality academic and/or industrial laboratories is an advantage, but not a requirement. The ability to efficiently work as part of a team is essential.
Experience and skills required
Previous experience with DNA purification, PCR and gel electrophoresis
Good organizational skills
Computer proficiency (Word, Excel)
Good oral and written communication skills in English are a requirement.
Knowledge of Danish is an advantage
Integrity, enthusiasm, flexibility, confidence and good collaboration skills
Terms of appointment and salary are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Government and HK-STAT (Danish Technician Association). The position will be at the level of salary group 2.2.
