Project Grants Awarded - DanStem National Collaboration Initiative 2017

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Biology awarded three project grants with the total amount of DKK6.5 million to support National Collaboration through a donation from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

The aim of the initiative is to strengthen and develop basic research within the areas of stem cells and developmental biology in Denmark, through the establishment of national collaborations based on concrete research projects at a high scientific level.

The call was open for the second time in 2017 where projects been reviewed and assessed by an international reviewers.

The main selection criteria were: scientific excellence, innovation, originality and contribution to the strengthening of the stem cell and developmental biology research in Denmark.

The following teams received funding for collaborative projects in 2017:

Torben Heick Jensen, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, University of Aarhus, and Kristian Helin, DanStem
Project: Ribo-regulation in stem cell differentiation II

Susanne Mandrup, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, and Bo Porse, DanStem
Project: Capture Hi-C for investigation of enhancer dynamics in cellular differentiation and cancer.

Jonathan Brewer, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, and Jakub Sedzinski, DanStem
Project: Mechanics of epithelial cell renewal
