Review paper by Palle Serup on Signaling Pathways Regulating Murine Pancreatic Development to appear in Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology. The review is available online ahead of print from June 21, 2012.
Abstract: The recent decades have seen a huge expansion in our knowledge about pancreatic development. Numerous lineage-restricted transcription factor genes have been identified and much has been learned about their function. Similarly, numerous signaling pathways important for pancreas development have been identified and the specific roles have been investigated by genetic and cell biological methods. The present review presents an overview of the principal signaling pathways involved in regulating murine pancreatic growth, morphogenesis, and cell differentiation.
