Two New Group Leaders will join DanStem
Agnete Kirkeby and Jakub Sedzinski are expected to join DanStem in early 2017 and establish research groups. With these recruitments DanStem will consist of 11 Group Leaders addressing basic questions in stem cell and developmental biology.
We have recruited two junior group leaders to strengthen our research portfolio in the fields of Stem Cell and Developmental Biology. Agnete Kirkeby’s research focuses on modelling human brain development with human pluripotent stem cells, and Jakub Sedzinski will contribute with a better understanding of how multilayered epithelia, such as the skin and lung epithelium, renew themselves. The two Principal Investigators, (PIs) will join DanStem in early 2017 and plan to establish research groups.
|Agnete Kirkeby, currently a Group Leader in the Department for Human Neural Development, Lund University, will use bioengineering, stem cell technology, developmental biology and bioinformatics to provide comprehensive new insights into the molecular basis of human brain development. Furthermore, some of these discoveries will contribute to new stem cell-based cell therapy in Parkinson’s disease.|
|Jakub Sedzinski, currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Wallingford lab, The University of Texas, Austin, will use imaging together with quantitative image processing and theoretical modeling to investigate the mechanisms governing epithelial cell renewal. To this end, Jakub will focus on apical emergence, a novel cellular behavior that describes a broad spectrum of cellular processes resulting in the integration of a progenitor/stem cell within an existing epithelium.|
With these recruitments DanStem will consist of 11 Group Leaders addressing basic questions in stem cell and developmental biology.
