PhD fellow, PhD Student

I am currently working as a PhD student in the Porse Group, at the Finsen Laboratory, Rigshospitalet, BRIC, DanStem, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

Primary fields of research

Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs) is a unique subset within the malignant cellular hierarchy, which can give rise to clonal progeny and thus propagate the growth of the bulk malignant population. Acute Myeloid Leukemias (AMLs), like other cancers, are thought to be maintained by CSCs, known as Leukemic Stem Cells (LSCs), hence these cells need to be targeted to efficiently eradicate the disease.

C/EBPa is a central transcription factor in normal hematopoiesis, as well as a target of key cancer driver mutations. A frequent mutation gives rise to a truncated version of C/EBPa - p30. Using a murine AML model precisely recapitulating this human molecular driver event, we have identified specific p30 bound and upregulated targets, by gene expression and ChIP-seq analysis.

We are currently working on characterizing and validating the regulation and function of these tumor promoting factors in AML.
