The Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative

DanStem was established as an initiative of The Novo Nordisk Foundation's ambition to create a cluster of research centres that can attract and retain the world’s best researchers, thereby creating the basis for an innovative research environment of the highest quality to benefit society.

In 2017, DanStem received a new grant from Novo Nordisk Foundation to support translational research in blood cancers. In connection with this grant, the two sections comprised DanStem until 2017 were merged into one centre called the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Biology, DanStem.

The vision is to establish a hub for international basic, translational and early clinical stem cell research and developmental biology.
